Past Projects
Over the years, Sounds for Freedom has developed and carried out a wide range of projects focused on music, participation and connection. Below you’ll find a selection of past projects that reflect our approach and the communities we work with.
Concerts & Workshops in Emergency Shelters (2022)
In the summer of 2022, we organised two special concerts in temporary emergency shelter locations for refugees in Amsterdam South. Syrian singer Mireille Bittar and Ukrainian singer-songwriter INOYSON performed and led workshops with refugee children.
Together with the musicians, the children learned songs and joined them on stage during the concert, creating a shared and empowering musical experience.

Summer Sounds on Tour (2023)
In the summer of 2023, Sounds for Freedom went on tour with Summer Sounds on Tour. We gave music workshops for refugee children aged 5 to 12 in temporary shelter locations across Amsterdam.
Through singing, dancing and making music together, the children learned specially composed songs in a playful and accessible way. Each workshop ended with a small performance for parents, celebrating creativity, confidence and joy.
